15 Years Later, Mandy Moore Opens Up About “A Walk To Remember”
Oh, the amazing movies that came out in the early 2000s! If you were a teen, you had so much to choose from: a high-school horror (Scream), a thriller (Jawbreaker)… Stars like Rachel Leigh Cook, Neve Campbell, Rebecca Gayheart… And then there were the ones like A Walk To Remember, and Mandy Moore.
And it was such a classic. Mandy Moore was every girl ever. And now, 15 years later, she decided to tell us some inside information, and brace yourselves: The cast may be up for a reunion!

It was such a heart-warming, cry-your-eyes-out love story between Jamie and Landon. A rough rebel and a sweet girl, growing up together.

And they went on with their relationship and their love, even though Jamie was ill. Doesn’t it make you tear up just remembering?

Like their love, the movie stood the test of time and the cast is now doing better than ever.

“I think that it was such an overwhelmingly positive, memorable experience for me because it was my first leading role, and it was the first film I worked on away from home.”

“It just gives me an all-encompassing warm feeling inside.”
Us too, Mandy. Us too.

She also speaks about what it was like to film with a major heartthrob, which Shane West was at the time.
“He had a lot of respect as an actor and I was just the total newbie…I felt incredibly lucky right off the bat that I had someone who was as willing to work with me and who was patient and understanding. He was just the perfect partner for that.”

“Shane was so cool… He was the character to me and there was definitely a part of me that absolutely fell in love with him.”

Shane didn’t save on compliments either. “Mandy was really nervous in the beginning. But once she committed to it she slipped right into the role effortlessly and it just really fit her. She really grew up on that movie.”
Mandy is endlessly grateful about the movie happening to her career and to the fans who keep mentioning it still.
“There are very few times in your career when the memories and the relationship you have to a project match the relationship that an audience has to the project — but this movie is as special to me as it seems to be to people out there in the world. I mean that’s the reason that 15 years later we’re still talking about it.”

Will there be a reunion, though?
We’ll have to wait and see. Fingers crossed!
